In honor of #BlackHistoryMonth and Valentine’s Day 2021, Claire’s Place Foundation, Inc. featured a Q&A interview with Terry Wright [@terrywright1962], Founder and President of the National Organization of African Americans with CF, as part of their special #SelfCareSunday series on February 14th at 4pm CST/2pm PST on the clairesplacefoundation IGTV.
As Melissa Nordquist Yeager, Executive Director, Claire’s Place Foundation, Inc., shared, “Terry’s mission at NOAACF is to connect, help build diverse communities, and raise CF Awareness in the African American community and beyond through its national platform. He is the recipient of a 2020 Impact Grant from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation as well as the 2020 Jacoby Angel Award, the highest award of the CF Roundtable, which is produced by the US Adult Cystic Fibrosis Association (USACFA). Terry will share his inspiring journey living with CF for 54 years before finally getting a diagnosis 4 years ago. The African American CF community makes up only 5% of the global population, oftentimes not being properly diagnosed until later in life due to the rare mutation they carry. Find out more about #NOAACF and Terry’s incredible story by visiting their site at noaacf.org and tuning in on Sunday!”
Claire’s Place Foundation is named in honor of Claire Wineland who lived with CF her entire life and passed away at the age of 21. Claire’s Place Foundation provides grants to support children living with CF and their families. No parent should have to choose between paying their bills or being bedside for their child.
