NOAACF Co-Founders Terry and Michele Wright are delighted to sit on the Cystic Fibrosis Research Institute (CFRI)’s “Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Community and it’s Faces of CF Diversity and Inclusion Program” and continue their mutual support with the organization. They are also delighted to participate in the CFRI’s CF and the African American Community Video Project.
This video also features NOAACF Board Member and CFer Everett Rice; NOAACF Community Members, CF-er Jaelyn Mathis Cooper and her mother Dianna Lett Mathis; and NOAACF Advocate and Supporter and CFRI’s 2021 Cystic Fibrosis Champion, Dr. Jennifer Taylor-Cousar, MD, MSCS, a pediatric and adult pulmonologist (Medical Director, Clinical Research Services, Co-Director, Adult Cystic Fibrosis Program, and Director, Cystic Fibrosis Therapeutics Development Center Adult Program) at National Jewish Health.
As CRFI’s Executive Director, Siri Vaeth, MSW, notes, “CF impacts people of every race and ethnicity, including African Americans, yet due to the misperception that the disease impacts only those of European descent, many individuals go years without a diagnosis. In this moving film, CF community members share their experiences, while Dr. Jennifer Taylor-Cousar updates us on the true diversity of our community.”
NOAACF continues to work in synergy with CFRI and an array of other CF Community Organization to help ensure that a change and cure for the better are brought to life for those suffering with cystic fibrosis across all diverse and ethnic communities.
