Session Description
This symposium is devoted to issues in Health Equity in CF care. Topics will include a discussion of bias in medicine and how this may impact the CF care model, as well as a review of the existing research on disparities in CF care. This includes work on access to modulator therapy, involvement in clinical trials, and disparities in health outcomes and newborn screening, This symposium will also include perspectives from people with CF on their own experiences of care.
Educational Objectives
1. Identify areas of CF care that have been impacted by health disparities, including access, outcomes, and diagnosis.
2. Discuss the sources of bias in healthcare and strategies to overcome health inequities.
3. Understand the perspectives of people with CF who have experienced challenges with health equity.
